Senior Copywriter

Charleston, SC
Full Time
Mid Level
We are looking for a Senior Copywriter who can capture the quiet focus of a dawn patrol, the grit of a Tarpon strike-mission, and the technical innovation of our gear—all in a single sentence. We need someone who can pivot seamlessly from a high-concept seasonal brand campaign to the gritty, high-volume marketing copy required to launch a new product line. This position is a 50/50 blend of brand creative and marketing copywriting. You will be the narrative anchor for our seasonal launches, translating heavy R&D (fabric technologies, performance innovation) into "benefit-first" copy that moves product. You will own the copy pipeline across our entire ecosystem, ensuring our story is cohesive, elevated, and authentic from a 15-word billboard to a 150-word product description.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Senior Designers to brainstorm and execute multi-channel campaigns, including email marketing, social ads, landing pages, catalogs and retail signage
  • Own the copy for consumer DTC mailers and seasonal wholesale catalogs, maintaining tight word counts while maximizing technical accuracy
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Marketing to understand the "why" behind the gear—and communicate it cleanly to the consumer
  • Write and manage high-volume, high-quality Product Description Pages (PDPs) for all seasonal apparel and gear
  • Turn raw spec sheets from design teams into benefit-driven copy
  • Maintain and evolve our voice across all touchpoints, ensuring that even the most functional production copy (size guides, hangtags, emails) sounds like a trusted guide, not a corporate brochure
  • Partner with the channel teams to analyze performance and optimize without losing our brand's soul
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5–7 years of professional copywriting experience within an agency or an in-house brand team (outdoor, technical apparel, or premium lifestyle brands heavily preferred)
  • Experience working inside Creative platforms like Figma
  • A portfolio that showcases a mix of punchy short-form digital ads and highly detailed product copy
BONUS POINTS: Understanding of fly fishing and outdoor industry trends. You have lived the sport. You know the nuances of the community, conservation, and the specific gear needs of a saltwater flats angler versus a drift-boat regular.

Required Competencies
  • Hyper-organized and comfortable navigating complex material specifications (DWR treatments, PrimaLoft, ripstop) while managing massive copy docs spanning hundreds of SKUs
  • A portfolio demonstrating you can write an aspirational brand campaign just as effectively as a punchy, conversion-driven Instagram ad
  • Ability to take feedback from product managers, Brand marketing, and creative director in stride, refining copy until it hits the perfect balance of technical and emotional
  • Ability to understand how to weave keywords into a product story naturally to lift discoverability and drive immediate digital action
